Installation shots from the exhibition Échappées, 2026. Les ateliers du vent, Rennes.

In May 2026, I had the opportunity to work and experiment on the platform of Les Ateliers du Vent, a former mustard factory, a place made of windows, where we can the light move and travel along the walls.

Échappées is a body of works that resonate with each other, revolving around the sun and its interaction with sensitive surfaces, whether they are photographic, architectural, or epidermal. Here, I am interested in those moments when the sun no longer reveals the image, but the material itself. These works explore the traces it leaves behind: burns, remnants, peeling skins and shedding ones.

Within these fugitive images, we encounter overexposed film negatives of photographs half-erased by the blaze of an unforgiving sun; Polaroid emulsions that resemble the skin of photographs, or sweat-soaked sheets; the sheds of windows, like the sloughed skins of snakes found along Mediterranean scrubland paths; and poplar light stencils that allow shadows to scatter through space, making both positive and negative visible.

The heatwave we experienced during these weeks of research and creation proved fertile ground for this project, embodying languor and warmth while evoking a South - the South I come from, where the sun dazzles, the cicadas deafen, our bodies burn, and the relentless midday heat beats down upon us.
